I am a Swiss-German who grew up in Europe, spent a year in the United States, and eventually made the beautiful city of Edmonton, AB, Canada her home. I've always loved logic challenges and finding solutions to complex problems, so Computing Science was a natural choice for me. When I'm not working on projects, you'll find me kayaking the local lakes, playing tennis, or enjoying time with family and friends.
I spent several years in the hospitality industry, where I was engaged in operations management and sales on a chain-wide level. It gave me the opportunity to learn valuable skills, practise effective communication, and truly understand the importance of teamwork. When I began my computing science journey, I immediately fell in love with this field, so I decided to become an active member of the community and share my passion with others. I began working as a tutor as well as a teaching assistant. I also helped introduce young children to the world of coding by leading courses at my university’s science summer camp.
I obtained a degree in Computing Science, with Business Minor, from the University of Alberta. When I began my studies, I was immediately captivated by both the theoretical and practical aspects of my new field and the endless possibilities they offered. I therefore seized the opportunity to take as broad a range of courses as I could. The following are some of the areas I was able to explore during my time at the university: :

This is a sport I have been enjoying since I was seven years old. I played competitively in my junior years, constantly participating in tournaments and team events. 'Post-youth' me has shifted her focus to staying in shape and enjoying the social aspect of the game. I still like to sprinkle in the occasional tournament, though, and as a Tennis Canada certified coach, I greatly enjoy promoting the sport and passing on my knowledge and passion for the game.
Never stop learning! I'm a firm believer in life-long learning and music is a fun way to practise this. I have been playing the piano since I was five years old, and the older I get, the more in love I am with this instrument. In my spare time I like to challenge myself with tackling a difficult piece on the piano, a fun song on the guitar, or even exploring an entirely new instrument. I'm currently dabbling in ukulele. They say there's not much you can do with a ukulele that doesn't sound happy - if that's not a good enough reason to pick up this instrument, I don't know what is.
Since completing my degree, my main focus has been full-stack development. I constantly broaden my skill set through projects, online courses and tutorials. I truly enjoy the entire process - from front-end design to back-end development and database integration. As a firm believer in continuous learning, I am keen to gain new skills and knowledge every day. I can't wait to see what the future holds! If you'd like to learn more about my skills and qualifications, or to see some of my latest projects, please check out my portfolio.
